I hope everyone's having a fantastic week! So far so good this way!  I completed a project I've been working on for months at work and feel like this huge weight has been removed.  Sometimes when you have too long to anticipate something it makes you focus on it too much and think of all the possible things that can go wrong.  Not too many snags, but if any arise - it's nothing that can't be corrected. I'm learning to accept mistakes as they are and keep on moving.  We're all human and we make them.

I received the following email from one of my co-workers today regarding her nephew, Gavin.  Please read and respond as your heart leads you. Gavin's mother is the author of the message below.  It would be awesome if we could bring a smile to the face of this young boy and his big sister.  I don't know Gavin personally, but I've had the honor of working with his aunt for the past 5 years.  

Motivational Monday: Balancing it All

I recently facilitated a breakout session covering balancing it all.  There are times when I get small bursts of creativity and I had the idea to have someone stand in front of us all while we listed off the multitude of roles we all carry - wife, mother, sister, friend, worker, confidante, entrepreneurs, caregivers, volunteer, etc, etc, etc.  Of course, as the list got longer, the pile of ping pong balls got higher until they all began spilling over.  The solution? Different people in the group came to help out, pick some up, hold some for the original volunteer, etc.

SOCS: Release

Release.  I, almost, broke the first rule of Stream of Consciousness Sunday...no editing, no thinking, just write.  I don't know where "release" came from because that's definitely not what I was thinking of writing.  But it pretty much sums up what I've gone through over the past week.  I've had a lot on my plate lately - personally, professionally, socially.  I've been able to juggle it all, but this past week was a culmination of so many things coming to an end and some new beginnings as well.

Any working parent knows that having reliable child care is a necessity! Unfortunately, I began having problems with my sitter about a month ago.  She's been having some personal and health issues and it's caused her to "call off" about 10 days in the past month.  No one to watch my kids means I have to stay home which means I don't get paid.  Pretty simple math.  My kids loved her and I didn't want to make them go through another change.  I'm learning sometimes change is good.  I had to fire her. Definitely not easy severing that relationship.  I wish her nothing but the best, but she needs time to get herself right and I need to know I have somewhere to take my kids where they will thrive.  I found just the place.  Yes, my daycare bill has almost doubled and I'm going to have to make some major changes.  However, my kids are happier around other kids and I'm less stressed.  We're going to have to make it work.

Happy Thursday Divas! I hope you're all having a fantastic week. We're almost to another weekend and I plan on getting some much needed rest and relaxation.  However, that actually never happens so I'll just go with the flow.  This past week has flown by and I'm so thankful that I was able to keep my sanity through it all.  From child care issues to un-diva-like moments on some folks part, I'm thankful for an opportunity to say "whew"!  Glad I made it through that and now on to the next fun adventure!  This past weekend was the culmination of almost a year's worth of planning for the annual reunion of the community-based sorority I've been blessed to be a part of for the past (almost) 3 years - Sigma Beta Xi, Incorporated.

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday Divas!! I hope you're all having a fantastic week! Today's my Friday so I'm super duper happy!!!

Another great week for my family as we welcomed the 9th (and final) grandchild into our family. My youngest sister and her husband added another diva to the bunch! Unfortunately they are currently stationed in California and I can't be the hands on Auntie...yet, but they will be back on the East Coast by Thanksgiving and I will make up for lost time!  In the mean time, I've had fun putting together a fun care package for the youngest of our bunch.

Dear 10 Year Old...

It hit me earlier this week that my oldest son is growing up on me. This week marks the beginning of his last 9 weeks as an elementary school student.  I'll admit I got a little emotional and sentimental as I reflected on the past 10.5 years and it still amazes me how much he's grown and matured.

SOCS: Reflections on Faith

Happy Resurrection Sunday! As I sit and reflect on the importance of what this weekend represent within my faith, I'm awed at the sacrifice and love that was made for me.  I'm humbled, because quite often I know I don't behave in a way to justify any of it.  I'm human with human flaws. I've got slight anger management issues - especially when it comes to someone being abused or unappreciated.  Rarely do I get enough sleep these days.  Between my 6 month old and 4 year old's weird sleep patterns, I'm lucky to close my eyes by midnight and am usually back up around 4 just to drift back off right before the alarm goes off and I start the snooze button war.  I know that seriously affects my attitude and demeanor - I'm working on it. Most days.

Thankful Thursday: Week 14

Happy Thursday Divas! I hope you're all having a fantastic week so far. I'm psyched for a fun weekend with my family.  My oldest son has been gone all week for Spring Break so it'll be great to have him home on Sunday afternoon.

Preparedness = Savings

This morning was rough for me.  Neither my 4 year old or my 6 month old were cooperating with leaving the house.  Normally, I attempt to get everything ready the night before but lately that has just not been happening.

I dropped them off to the sitter’s to realize that my 6 month old’s diapers were not in the bag. Great!  


Option 1 – drive all the way back home and be about 30 minutes late to work

Option 2 – swing by the Dollar General around the corner from the sitter’s and my job and be about 15 minutes late to work
